The Casa Rosada (The Pink House)
Argentine history is complicated to say the least, from what I know it’s been peppered with corruption and scandal, and in some places, it’s downright macabre. So, when working on this picture of the seat of government in Buenos Aires, I didn’t want to create anything too cheery, and I felt that multiple layers were a good way to explore the theme. My favourite layer in this piece is an old type written government document from the days of the disappearances which is faintly blended into the sky. I also really liked the moody feeling the birds lent picture, so I experimented with duplicating and repositioning them, to make a flock.
